Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. Scope optics are excellent and adjustments are functional.
Bore is strong, but could use a good cleaning. The receiver ring in the area adjacent to the bbl, the rear sight leaf, the forward bbl band and the exposed section of the bbl itself are all host to significant corrosion, rust and occasional deep pits. Wood is excellent with some scratches and dings consistent with limited field use, although dirty, with rust on buttplate and the bolt disassembly ferrule. CONDITION: Metal parts retain approx 60-70% of orig blue, which has worn thin in many places. This SS short double claw mount is unnumbered. The buttplate is flat and smooth, and the safety is the standard component found on infantry K98ks. The bolt SN “7621” appears on the cocking piece, safety, bolt root, extractor, receiver ring, rear sight leaf, lower bbl band, trigger guard assembly, floorplate, action screws and follower. The telescopic scope is marked “EBRA 4X” on the adjustment knob.
All metal components, except for the bolt, bear the number “3610”. Stock SN is “3810”, although barely legible.
#Mauser k98 ss markings code#
The rifle SN is faintly visible as well as “P” and maker code “byf” indicating the stock came from the Mauser Oberndorf facility. The laminated stock has lost most of its marks. Receiver ring is well marked with early Nazi era drop-wing Eagle firing proofs, SN '1306e' and the maker code 'S/147/G' (JP Sauer, 1935). This K98k was made for the SS, as indicated by the Death's head marking with 'SS 4' on the left side of the bbl adjacent to the receiver ring.
Illustrated in the book Sniper Variations of the German K98k Rifle by Richard D. RARE SS MAUSER K98k SHORT DOUBLE CLAW SNIPER RIFLE (SCHARFSCHUTZENGEWEHR) WITH 4X EBRA TELESCOPE. The K98k bolt has Waffenamt Eagle/63, SN “7621C” which does not match the rifle but does match itself completely. The left side of the forward scope base has been recently buffed. The right side of the receiver ring shows Waffenamt “Eagle/116” & “Eagle/214”. The bbl is also well marked and includes a Nazi Eagle firing proof, SN “3610”, the SS stamp, a “Geco” (Gustav Genschow) commercial trademark, and the bbl code “39Ru3”. As is the case with early K98k receivers, there are no markings on the side-rail. They said their rifles has all of the waffen markings like all K98s would have on them, plus the death head with SS runes above the skull. Receiver ring is well marked with early Nazi era drop-wing Eagle firing proofs, SN “1306e” and the maker code “S/147/G” (JP Sauer, 1935). re: mauser k98 ss death head marked rifles So, they would have the standard Factory Mauser markings, but none of the other standard waffen markings that was on every K98 that was issued. This K98k was made for the SS, as indicated by the Death’s head marking with “SS 4” on the left side of the bbl adjacent to the receiver ring. However the chances of it being a real SS depot build objective mount sniper are pretty slim.*◊ RARE SS MAUSER K98k SHORT DOUBLE CLAW SNIPER RIFLE (SCHARFSCHUTZENGEWEHR) WITH 4X EBRA TELESCOPE. click HERE to go back to our 'rifles' page. If you are trying to re-use the scope drillings you need to try and identify the scope base type and if it is an objective mount you won't find repro objective mounts. All markings unconditionally guaranteed to be genuine REPRO 10' or 12.5' 98k cleaning-rods, excellent quality (installed on any rifle you buy from us). The K98 was factory fitted with the sight base for the ZF41 scope with the factory modified stock.
#Mauser k98 ss markings serial number#
The K98 is fully matching with the serial number 13874 and the markings Mod. *if* objective mount, and real, it would have most likely been a Hendsolt Wetzler Dialytan x4 scope or an Ajack scope. Textbook, untouched K98k rifle marked byf44 indicating production by Mauser. You'd need to try and identify the mount type by the drillings to know whether its likely a real SS depot build, given 98% of all SS sniper's are fake. If real SS, and on a 1940 dated K98 (you don't state the maker?) it would be Objective Mount *if* real. It has been drilled for scope, and my guess is that it has been drilled for SS issued snipers with scope on 2x individual rings which makes it pre Wehrmacht issued sniper K98 with scope on side mounts. There are some marking that looks like "SS" but looks like they have been partially erased. I have a K98 with Waffen and 1940 markings on it.
